I have to give this restaurant 5 stars since the customer service was excellent and the food was amazing. I ordered a Palomilla, which was cooked exactly how I like it. The Palomilla came with three sides, white rice, black beans and sweet plantains. I was able to share this dish with my two toddlers and we were all satisfied. I will be coming back to try other items from the menu since there is a variety to choose from.

New restaurants are always a challenge to review, because you want to be accurate while keeping in mind that the owner & chef will tweak, add & subtract from the menu, and the staff will get into a groove.
That being said, the food we had was terrific. The fish sandwich was beautifully done. It could have used a more substantial roll, but the fish was fresh, expertly prepared, and it was huge! We had the Yuca Mojo with it, and instantly found a new comfort food. The yuca was cooked nicely & the mojo was so nice and citrusy.
Up next was the whole Fried Red Snapper. We stripped every bit of meat off those bones, it was that good. It was accompanied by white rice & black beans. The rice was very good. I normally don't like black beans, but these were absolutely delicious, with the perfect sorta mushy texture. They were out of the sweet plantains, but substituted with some banging Tostones.
Do not skip the Tres Leches cake for dessert! It is house made and so damn good. Just the right sweetness level.
Ray, the Chef, is charming. With the open kitchen, it was fun to hear him instructing his staff on how to correctly pronounce the Spanish names of the various dishes.
The front of house staff are friendly and accommodating & the restaurant was spotless on our visit.
A few suggestions: the lighting is a touch too bright and there needs to be more non-meat Latin options on the menu.
Other than that, this restaurant is such a great addition to the West End! Looking forward to becoming regulars & watching it grow.
Holding the 5 stars for a few more visits, but I'm sure Galan's will earn them! -

This is a great addition to the neighborhood. Plenty of parking. The five stars is for the food. Delicious at any price, but the lunch special is $7.99 which today was Ox tail stew with rice, black beans, and plantains. I've never had any better! This is only my second visit, but I have found my go to lunch spot.
Ps, They say the drive thru should be open soon. -

Great brunch and nice service. The Ropa Vieja was really good. Another great Latin-American food option in the Louisville area.

Finally AUTHENTIC Cuban-Puerto Rican cuisine in Louisville. The chef spares nothing in making his pork (Pernil), is most flavorful. The chicken and and rice is throw back to Puerto Rico. The brunch is a Sunday bargain worth the trip. Plenty of parking on-site.
